Kutxa, from the vasco word “box” means what is able to contain. In this case it is about family memories and storied that I have lived.
This work contains a series of boxes, each one with a particular story. The box contains, groups, preserves, it can be the body that contains the soul or the heart of a story. It can also be a place that refers to family or home, like a nest.
The material used is glass, which with its transparency suggests, seduces and lets us see what is inside each box and discover each visual narration. I work with glass that has been given to me or found on the streets, so they already have a history of their own. This supports the idea of wanting to preserve the stories.
This is a series of 18 pieces which when put together tell a story made up of moments and memories, in a sort of cartoon or film like way.
Our histories, as boxes contain, identify, and support us, the same way as we contain our stories.
