“Nature is not a place to visit. It is home.” Gary Snyder
Natural resources in our planet are becoming more and more fragile and it is becoming urgent to take actions to protect them. Nature has always been a very powerful force and people have been talking about protecting and preserving her for a long time.
Nowadays more people are taking note of this situation and are being moved into action. In this artwork, Nature is being represented in each piece of glass, which contains different organic pieces such as leaves, seeds, algae and also representative images of it. Glass evidences fragility and symbolizes the vulnerability in which our environment stands these days and the urge there is to protect it especially for the future generations.
Glass is a material that has been used for ages to preserve. It has protected our houses and food and in this case it keeps bits of Nature, including Human Nature.
It is essential to shelter our natural resources so as to heal Nature and give her back her power. Humanity without Nature wouldn’t survive, Nature without humanity would.
The proposal consists of approximately 30 fused glass pieces with images or organic elements inside, framed in wood. The sizes range from 7 x 4 inches to 18 x 8 inches each piece. They will be placed at eye level, side by side with one inch in between them.
